Obituary

Adam Scot DeVore, 59, died on September 27, 2021 at his home in Middle River, MD after a brief illness. Adam was born on October 16, 1961 in Frostburg, MD. He was the son of Harry Lee DeVore and Eleanor Jean (Stegmaier) DeVore. Adam was preceded in death by his father, Harry Lee DeVore and a daughter, Allison Courtney DeVore. Adam was full of life and joy. He had a big heart and was an optimist who never met a stranger he didn't turn into a friend. His smile lit up the room and his laughter was contagious. Adam was an outstanding chef who learned to cook from his father while working at Hi-Way Pizza. Adam was also employed locally at restaurants such as Oscar's, When Pigs Fly, Bunnies, Fratelli's, and Ottaviani's. His love for cooking extended to his friends and family who could always expect a feast when visiting his home. Adam worked at his grandfather, Ted Stegmaier's orchard as a young man and remained an avid gardener until the end of his life. Adam had a passion for animal welfare and adopted and loved dogs and other animals over the years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golf, and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Colts, Washington Redskins, and University of Maryland Terrapins. Adam was a Catholic by faith and a graduate of Bishop Walsh High School. He is survived by his wife Dana DeVore; mother, Eleanor Cannon and her husband, Mike Cannon; a daughter, Autumn (DeVore) Bishop; three grandchildren, Jackson Bishop, Sylas and Wyatt DeVore; four step children, Daniella, Samantha, John, and Nicolas; three siblings, Greg DeVore, Bryan DeVore, and Mary Aleta (DeVore) Williams-Darrow; uncles, Roy DeVore and Richard Fagan, aunt Mary (Manley) DeVore; and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. A viewing will be held at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. at 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland on Wednesday, Oct. 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
