CUMBERLAND – Janet Marie Miller, 70, of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Cumberland Healthcare Center. Born November 25, 1951, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late James H. Stevens, Sr. and Kathleen (Retzer) Stevens. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Regis Stevens and wife, Judy; and her fur babies, her dogs, Katy, Buffy, Mookie, Inky, and Abby. Janet was a 1970 graduate of Bishop Walsh High School. She went on to work at Gabriel's in LaVale and Spherix Corporation in Frostburg. Janet also kept busy with babysitting and housekeeping. Prior to her illness, Janet and her husband, Gary, traveled extensively. She also enjoyed listening to country music and completing puzzle books. Janet leaves behind her husband of nearly 40 years, Gary L. Miller; brother, James H. Stevens, Jr. and wife, Patricia; nieces, Lisa Stevens Courtney and her daughter, Aubrey Courtney, Valerie Milburn and husband, Rodney, and their children, Jaxon and Claire, and Madison Pratt; nephew, Anthony Pratt; sisters-in-law, Julie Miasek and Autumn Pratt; cousins, Rita Evans and husband, Roger, and Rita's daughter, Theresa Ringler, and Linda Szilagyi and husband, Geza; best friends who were like sisters, Mary Nelson and Lil; and her fur baby, Cinders. Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is assisting with arrangements. In accordance with Janet's wishes, she will be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 10am. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
