CUMBERLAND – Kay Frances (Pratt) Mitchell, 87, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital.
Born June 28, 1932, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph F. Pratt and Agnes Catherine (Minke) Pratt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Mitchell in 2005; brothers, William "Bill" Pratt, John "Jack" Pratt, George Richard "Dick" Pratt; sisters, Georgianna Pratt Tabler, Rose Marie Pratt.
Kay attended Fort Hill High School. She helped out at her family's store, Pratt's Grocery, until it closed in 1986. She was also employed at Footers Cleaners and the Corner Tavern in Cumberland. For over 25 years, Kay worked in central service and housekeeping at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland.
She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Corriganville, and she attended Calvary Bible Church in Ellerslie from 1994 to 2007.
Kay leaves behind one son, Timothy R. Pratt, I, and wife Jeanie, Cumberland; grandchildren, Timothy R. Pratt, II, and wife Paula, Cumberland, Kimberly J. (Pratt) Rice and husband Travis, Flintstone, Janel N. (Pratt) Shoemaker and husband Brian, Cumberland, and Aaron M. Pratt and wife Bethany, Jackson, MI; great-grandchildren, Timothy, III, and Ryan Pratt, Kambria, Kearstyn, and Kamryn Rice, Madison, Alysa, and Briley Shoemaker, Emma, Nora, Ella, Lorna, and Hudson Pratt; special niece, Joyce M. Pratt.

Friends will be received at Calvary Bible Church, 13901 S Gardner St, Ellerslie, MD, on Monday, June 22, 2020, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the church on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Ken Korns officiating and Pastor Greg Miller assisting. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, will be private.
