Alan Jay
Durr
May 20, 1954 — Oct 30, 2024
Cresaptown – Alan Jay Durr, 70, of Cresaptown, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at WVU in Morgantown.
Born on May 20, 1954, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Olen Durr and Jerene (Warnick) Watkins.
Alan, was also known as "Chief" and "Uncle Alan" to many friends, relatives and co-workers. Alan was the type of man that enjoyed and embraced his routines. You could almost always set your watch to his daily habits. Alan was always the first to drop everything to help a neighbor, friend or relative in their time of need, day or night. He sometimes tried to portray a gruff exterior, but had a "heart of gold" on the inside.
He always had a quest for knowledge. Alan enjoyed reading, puzzles, crosswords, and other sorts of historical trivia. He enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, classic TV shows, westerns and crime dramas, coin collecting and socializing with friends. He was a life member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 2883.
He worked for the Cresaptown Civic Improvement in the Water Department as a supervisor.
Alan is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vicki Durr. He is also survived by his brother, Rodney Durr, sons Mark Flinn and wife Johnna, and Brian Pyles, and several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
