FLINTSTONE – Albert Francis Growden, 89, of Flintstone, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023, at home.

Born July 1, 1934, in Bedford, PA, he was a son of the late Ross Ambrose and Della (Miller) Growden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lucille (Clingerman) Growden in 2007; son, Steven Lee Growden, Sr.; sisters, Colleen Oehmig, Donna Growden, and Patricia Growden.

Albert served his country in the United States Air Force as a hydraulic specialist mechanic and was stationed in North Africa during the Korean Conflict. For over 40 years he worked as a drywall hanger until his retirement. He was a classic car and motorcycle enthusiast who rode Harley Davidsons in his younger days. For many years he played guitar and sang in his band, Country Echoes.

Albert leaves behind sons, Albert Wayne Growden, David Francis Growden, and Phillip Scott Growden; sisters, Joanne Jones, Betty Cassell, Ruth Spurr, and Kim Bible; brothers, James Growden and David Growden; grandchildren, Travis Reyes, Steven Growden, Jr., Lacey Growden, Kaitlyn Growden, Becca Leone, and Lindsey Hollinger; great-grandsons, Coy, Jed, River, Levy, Henry, and Archer; great-granddaughter, Layah.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 10 to 11am. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11am with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Flintstone.
