Alfred Thomas "Tom" Dougherty, 91, passed away November 15, 2022 with his family by his side at Peace Healthcare-Lions Center in Cumberland, MD.

He was born in Cresson, PA, on February 13, 1931, to the late Emmett and Iva (Donoughe) Dougherty. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Dougherty, Ruth Martin, Audrey Kelly, Patrick Dougherty, Michael Dougherty, and James Dougherty.

Tom was a graduate of LaSalle High School in the Class of 1949, and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. He loved to tinker and fix things and had many jobs in the Cumberland area, including working with his father in managing waste disposal for the city. Later he owned and operated Cumberland Tire Service. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, and loved singing in the choir at SS. Peter & Paul for over 40 years. Tom also enjoyed the many reunions and picnics with his large extended family.

Surviving is his wife, Mary Dolores (Martin) Dougherty; children, Martin Dougherty and wife Cindy of St. Albans, WV, Thomas Dougherty and wife JoLynne of Carnegie, PA, Diane Dougherty of Burke, VA, David Dougherty and wife Apryl of Flintstone, MD; grandchildren, Stuart, Rory, and Mary K. Dougherty; a sister, Kathleen Houck; and a brother Frank Dougherty and wife Peggy; and a large extended family with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2022, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the SS. Peter and Paul Shrine, Cumberland.

Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cumberland.

The family would especially like to thank the staff of Peace Healthcare at the Lions Center for their care over the past 3.5 years.
