Alice Doretha Kinser Hartsock of Cumberland, Maryland, died at an impressive 101 years old on February 14th, 2026, at her home in Northern Virginia, surrounded by loved ones.

​Born January 14th, 1925, to Garrett and Lizzie Kinser, she was one of six children. She is preceded in death by her siblings Richard Kinser, Allen Kinser, Helen Gross, and Lena O'Neal. She is survived by her youngest sister, Virginia Sears. In 1955, she married her partner, Edwin (Fuzz) Charles Hartsock Senior. They were married for twenty-three years before his death in 1979.

​Alice's achievements were vast. She graduated from Oldtown High School in 1942 and, from there, went to work at Celanese, Ben Franklin Store, Grants Department Store, County Infirmary, and, lastly, the Fruit Bowl in Cumberland. Along with her many work accomplishments, Alice pursued many hobbies, her favorites being reading, crosswords, word searches, and dominoes. She's been lovingly called a domino shark in her later years. One of her greatest accomplishments is raising her children and many others who came along the way. She had so much love to give, and she gave it.

​Religion was an important part of Alice; she's been an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 55 years.

​Alice is survived by her only son, Edwin Charles Hartsock Jr., her Daughter-in-Law, Reva Taylor Hartsock, and her three grandchildren, Taylor, Garrett, and Davis Hartsock.

​Family and friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 from 12pm to 1pm. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 1pm with Pastor Mary George officiating.

​The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Salvation Army may be made in Alice's name.
