CUMBERLAND – Alvin Oliver "AO" Garland, 88, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at home. Born on May 5, 1933, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Lucius and Helen (Stallings) Garland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Garland; brothers, Wilbur, Alfred, Ralph, and Robert Garland; twin brother, Melvin Garland; and sisters, Nina, Pearl, and Nola. Alvin proudly served his country in the Army, serving in the Korean War. He retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company after 28 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Donna Turner Garland; daughter, Donna Womack (Steve); brothers, Lee Garland, and Jim Garland (Stephanie); sisters, Reba, and Shirley (Fred); grandchildren, Matthew and Amanda; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Rev. George Harpold officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
