Cumberland – Ann (Shireman) Thomas, 93, of Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on February 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Richard P. and Virginia P. (Peddicord) Shireman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Thomas, Jr.; sister, Virginia "Gidgie" Plummer and husband, Alden.

Ann was a graduate of Ursuline Academy and Frostburg State Teachers College. She was a teacher who began her teaching career at Flintstone School, and she continued her association with the Allegany County School System as a substitute teacher. After raising her family, Ann returned to fulltime teaching as a Kindergarten teacher at St. Newman Elementary School.

Ann enjoyed art and painting, she was also a member of the Ursuline Sisters Association and Our Lady of the Mountains Parish. Ann liked playing cards and the comradery of her card club members. Ann was most at home when she was spending time at the South Branch River with her family.

Ann is survived by her sons, Robert T. Thomas, III and wife, Carol, Richard R. Thomas and wife, Judy, and Michael A. Thomas and wife, Cindy; daughter, Marjorie Woodring and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Kelly Gamber and husband, Gavin, Michael Mc Greevy, Thad Eirich and fiancée, Zara Stone, Taylor Mackert and husband, Brody, Zachary Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Sarah Bohn and husband, Jared, Brooks Woodring, and Connor Woodring and wife, Alex; great grandchildren, Thomas and Gavin Gamber.

Friends will be received at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 10 A.M. until Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church at Noon with burial in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery.
