Anna Pauline College, 89 of Cumberland, MD passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Born in Huntingdon, PA on February 14, 1934, Mrs. College was the daughter of the late James B. Walker and Mildred Bollinger Walker Maines. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years Richard E. "Dick" College, her brothers: William Walker and Larry Walker; and sisters: Mary Fultz, Lillian "Caroline" Weir and Norma "Petty" Crownover.
Pauline is survived by her sisters: Phoebe Querry of PA and Barbara "Cookie" Hamilton of PA; and sons: Michael and wife Jody of VA, Stephen and his wife, Mary of MD, Douglas and his wife Patti of MD; and her daughter Pamela and wife Allyson of MD. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Amber Shoemake and husband Rob of MD, Katherine Tarr and husband James of NC, Jennifer Hunt and husband Shawn of WV, Lauren College and husband Luke of MD, Leslie Aide and wife Abbey of ND, Andy Crosten and husband Mason of NY and great grandchildren: Tyler Morgan, Aiden Hunt, Liam Hunt, Addison College, Stella Tarr, Milo Tarr, Beckham College, Rhett College and Callahan Aide.
Pauline was a 1952 graduate of Huntingdon High School. She was a longtime volunteer with the Allegany County American Red Cross, working the B-52 crash in Grantsville in 1964. She was later employed for almost 18 years with Celanese Textiles and 6 years by the Cumberland YMCA, overseeing a young woman's group home where she positively impacted the lives of numerous young women.
Pauline was also well known in the Cumberland area as an excellent ten pin bowler, competing locally in many leagues and nationally in tournaments.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 31st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.
A celebration of life and funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Harold McClay officiating.
