Obituary

CUMBERLAND Anna C. Peterson, 99, of Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at home.Born in Cumberland on February 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Leora (Coughenour) Peterson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Samuel and wife Helen, Estel and wife Mildred, Clarence and wife Margaret "Tootie", and Macklin Peterson; three sisters, Laverna "Isabel" Thompson and husband Harold, Betty Seltzer and husband Charles, and Theona Peterson; and sister-in-law, Laura Ann Peterson.Anna attended Pennsylvania Avenue School. Following high school, she was employed at the Celanese Corporation, and later retired from Christopher's Photography Lab in Cumberland. Anna enjoyed horse racing, and she always looked forward to attending the Coughenour family reunion every year. Anna was an avid football fan, and loved watching Fort Hill High School football games.She is survived by two brothers, A. Guy Peterson, and Jack E. Peterson and Alma Brown; sister, Doris Peterson with whom she resided; and many nieces and nephew who kept in touch with her.Every Sunday her relatives would visit. They would bring cakes, pies, and other goodies to satisfy Anna's sweet tooth. All family birthdays were celebrated at her home with Anna leading the group in singing "Happy Birthday." She will be sadly missed by her entire family.Family will receive friends at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 3-6 p.m.Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m., with Rev.
