Obituary

Annalee L. (Goodrich) Donahoe was a beloved mother and grandmother during her remarkable 91 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday November 20, 2021. Born in Augusta, WV, on April 25, 1930, the daughter of Roy and Mildred (Burch) Park, she spent the last fifty-two years living in the Valley View development of Wiley Ford, WV. Ann loved her house and her many friends in the neighborhood. The second oldest of ten siblings, she was preceded in death by brothers Kenneth, Jack, and Donald, as well as sisters Bernice Donahoe and Carol Valequez. Growing up in the post-depression era did not make for an easy childhood. However, the family is blessed with fond memories of a strong faith-centered mother (Mildred) and many picnics and reunions spanning several decades. Four of the siblings are currently left to share this precious family history with the next generations. They are Norma James, Rena Love, Sharon and husband Gary Robertson, brother Gary and wife Gin Park. Ann's absolute pride and joy were her children, son August Caporale and daughter Maria Caporale. Through the highs and lows the world brings anyone fortunate enough to live a long life, Gus, Maria, and Ann experienced it all together. Their unconditional love for each other gave them each heroic strength and is a powerful example for their successive generations of family. Ann was also blessed with an amazing daughter-in-law, Cindy Caporale, who has bonded the extended family together by hosting countless holiday and celebratory gatherings. Every grandchild should be fortunate enough to have a grandmother who is completely delusional about their grandchildren's abilities and successes. Ann's five grandsons, Dave and wife Missy Caporale, Chad and wife Julie Nichols, Brian and wife Stephanie Caporale, Joseph and wife Kerri Caporale, Tony and wife Jessica Caporale, and one granddaughter Amy and husband Jay Roberts, were constantly showered with praise and pride over whatever large, small, or nonexistent accomplishment they may or may not have achieved. Ann gave each of them the valuable gifts of acceptance and confidence. Her legacy will continue through these six grandchildren as well as her sixteen great grandchildren, and so far, one great-great grandchild. Ann took great pride in the eleven years she spent belonging to the Civic Club of Washington Street. She developed strong friendships through that group as well as through her attendance of the New Covenant United Methodist Church. Ann's closest friend was Virginia Rockwell of Riverside, CA. The two enjoyed countless hours of daily phone conversations that continued up until a few days before Ann's passing. Central to Ann's entire life was her belief in Jesus Christ. She found Jesus at an early age and leaned on him daily, year after year, and decade after decade. Her family is grateful for her example of faith. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Monday, November 29, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow the funeral home service at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
