In the early morning of Saturday, January 10, 2026, Arthur E. Strietbeck Jr. left this earth to be with the Lord in Heaven. He passed quietly at home with his loving wife at his side and his children nearby.

Artie, or Butch to family and friends, was born August 30, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. As the eldest of seven children, he was a loving and caring brother to his siblings Lois, Marolyn, Carolyn, Roger, Roxy, and Ed.

Butch graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966. He had a love for the ocean and soon joined the Navy. It was when he was stationed in Norfolk and came to Cumberland with a friend that he met the love of his life, Sherry. They would create a lifetime of happiness together lasting 57 years. During these years, Butch was an electrician in Local 307, superintendent for area contractors, and a master electrician. As founder and owner, his career legacy is S&S Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting company that has served the community for more than 30 years and is still family owned.

Butch loved the Lord and was a giving and generous Christian. He was a faithful member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church and a dependable servant, answering any call to action for the church, whatever the need.

Artie was the proud father of: Chip (Beth), Matt (Christiana), Sean (Michelle) and his baby girl Angie (Brian). The true gift for him … his grandchildren: Brenden (Whitney), Daniel (Lakyn), Gage (Taylor), Michael (Madelyn), Nathan (Joelle), Sean (Madilyn), Corinna (Luka), Anna (Tyler), Leah and Caroline. And his added bonus… great grandchildren: Brenden, Brantley, Brynnleigh, Peyton, Lyla, Emma, Ivey, Orlando, Lincoln, Indigo, Elsie, Lucian, and a new baby arriving this summer.

Butch was a hard-working man of many skills. He built several houses, worked on his corvettes, coached his boys in baseball and football, attended dance recitals and was the first call for guidance on how to fix anything. He had a quick wit and hearty laugh. His true happiness came from his family. His unconditional love for them was apparent to anyone who knew him. He loved attending his grandchildren's ball games and supporting them in all of their activities. Pap, as he was affectionately called, along with Nan, created many special memories for the family both at home and on vacations to the beach and Disney World. These memories and stories will sustain everyone through the grief of losing him.

And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home on Virginia Avenue, Cumberland. A funeral service will be held at Scarpelli's at Noon on Thursday, January 15th, with a one hour visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Veteran's Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Pallbearers will be his six beloved grandsons.

Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.
