Augustus "Gus" Quinn Jackson, 17, of Ridgeley, WV passed away at his home on June 3, 2025.
Born in Bedford, PA, on November 13, 2007, he was the son of William and Emily Jackson. Gus is also survived by his four siblings: Alicia Jackson and husband Atticus Speis, Tyler Jackson, Brenna Jackson, and Reed Jackson; grandparents, Margaret and Donald Pender, Jr of Honesdale, PA, and Ruth Jackson of Parkersburg, WV; great-grandmother, Marie Jean Weniger of Waymart, PA; Aunts and Uncles, Mary Ursich, Curtis Jackson, Nathan Jackson, Timothy Pender (Lindsay), Donald Pender III (Anita), and Rebecca Pender (Nate Oncea); several cousins; and his cat, Lars. Preceded in death by his grandfather, Jackie Lee Jackson; great-grandparents, Mildred and Donald Pender Sr, and Gerald Weniger; and a great aunt and uncle, Joyce and Hunter Loan.
He was a member of the Allegany County 4-H Club, and an active member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Parish.
Gus loved Halloween and making his own costumes. He also enjoyed making backyard bonfires with his family, setting off fireworks, playing games with his siblings and friends, eating watermelon, and hanging out with his cat. Along with adoring his own family pets, Gus took excellent care of many other neighborhood animals.
Visitation will be Monday, June 9th at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Christian Wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, June 10th beginning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 300 E Oldtown Road, Cumberland, MD. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery, Cumberland. A luncheon and celebration of his life will follow at St. Mary's Church social hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be directed to organizations supporting the rescue of animals, or youth programs at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Parish, 300 E Oldtown Road, Ste. 2, Cumberland, MD 21502.
