Cumberland – Barbara "Barb" Ann (Cook) Rice, 87, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village.

Born November 26, 1936, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Eleanor B. (Sowers) Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ronald L. Rice and daughter, Donna Yonker.

Barb was a 1954 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She was a homemaker and mother. She was a nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital and was employed at various ophthalmologists in the Cumberland area. She was a member of the Ladies of the Shrine, Daughter of the Nile and a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Barbara is survived by daughter, Vicky L. Metty and husband Patrick; one son, Ronald L."Skeeter" Rice; grandchildren, Brian P. Metty, Natasha L. Metty, Rutledge "Rudy" Yonker, Taryn S. Bradley; and five great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

Interment will be private and in Hillcrest Burial Park.
