OLDTOWN Barbara Catherine (Nelson) Shryock, 73, of Oldtown, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Cumberland Healthcare Center.Born on August 10, 1944, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William C. Nelson and Rozella M. (Petenbrink) Nelson Piper, and step-father, Charley Piper. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harry James Shryock; brothers, William James Nelson, and Kevin Wayne Piper; and brother-in-law, John Loar.Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Allegany High School. Following graduation, she went to work for the S. Schwab Company from which she retired in 2007. Barbara was a homemaker, and enjoyed collecting pigs and bells. Her and her husband enjoyed traveling.She is survived by her sisters, Carol Booth and husband John, Frostburg, and Evelyn Loar, Cumberland; brother, Robert Piper and Stephanie, Oldtown; sister-in-law, Alma Nelson, Cumberland, Martha Riley and husband Dale, Garland Athey and husband William, Cumberland, and Evelyn Appel and husband R. Gary, Oldtown; brother-in-law, Wakeman Shryock and wife Norma, Hagerstown; aunt, Betty Harman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 5-8 p.m.A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 1 p.m. with Rev.
