Barney S. McCarty, Jr., 83, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at UPMC-WM.

Born July 21, 1941, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Barney S. McCarty, Sr. and Margaret Viola (Johnson) McCarty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by loving wife, Brenda Sharron (Divelbiss) McCarty and his siblings, John and Bernard McCarty, Mary Beeghly, Viola Mummert and Ruth Frederick.

Barney was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Barney is survived by his sisters, Beatrice Mitchell and Dorothy Mercer.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel at MD State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Barkley officiating.
