Obituary

Betty L. Collins, 80, of Cresaptown, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Born on June 30, 1943, Hyndman, she was the daughter of the late Walter Burkett and Irene Bunner. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her late husband, Gerald Collins; step-son Gerald Collins Jr.; brother, Gerald Burkett, and sister, Joyce Humberson.

Betty was employed by the Schwab Company for 42 years. After she retired, she and her late husband, Jerry, traveled around the country. She looked forward to spending time watching her great-grandchildren, Noah and Emma, after retiring. She was a faithful member of Comps Church in Hyndman, PA, finding comfort in her faith.

Family meant a lot to her, and she loved spending time with them, especially when playing card games. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, creating special gifts for her loved ones. She found joy in listening to Southern gospel music and spending time reading her Bible. She loved watching Hallmark Christmas movies all year round.

She also enjoyed special luncheons with her coworkers from Schwab Company. She had a beloved sheltie named Susie, which she called "her baby". Simple pleasures like watching hummingbirds on her porch and taking care of her flower garden and tomato plants brought her happiness. She was a big fan of collecting beanie babies. She loved doing puzzles and always found joy in solving them.

Betty is survived by her siblings, Roger Burkett and wife, Diana, Gary Burkett and wife, Sabrina, all of Beggs, Okla., D. Jean Scaife Emerick, of Buffalo Mills, Pa., Edna Lee Dom and husband, John, of Mount Savage, whom she resided with; her daughters, Terri Stottlemyer and husband, James, Morgantown, W.Va, Lisa Milburn and husband, Quint, Cumberland; and son Harold "Zip" Sirbaugh, Illinois, and step daughter Laura Miller, Cumberland;, grandchildren, Jessica Logsdon and husband, Brian, Crystal Santos and husband, Tony, Shawn Milburn, Travis Milburn; Justin Sirbaugh and wife, Lorah, Dillan Sirbaugh, Dalton Allison and wife, Amber, Zach Sirbaugh and wife, Samantha, Alexa Miller, Paige Miller, Justin Collins, and Christina Collins, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 on the way; as well as extended family.

We will always remember her for her beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Known for her kindness and generosity, she will be missed. Her daily phone calls brought comfort and joy to her friends and family. As we say goodbye, let's remember her with love, knowing she will always have a special place in our hearts. As she would always say, "Toodle Toodle", until we meet again.
