RAWLINGS Betty Jo McKenzie, 80, of Rawlings, MD passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.She was born in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Clarence Edward DeGeare. Betty was also preceded in death by her brother Author Edward DeGeare and two sisters, Mary DeGeare and Clara DeGeare.Betty grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and that is where she meet her husband Thomas at a skating rink. They later moved to Baltimore where she managed the Hot Shop Restaurant. Then later, to be closer to her husband's family, they settled in Cresaptown. She loved her family very much, and spending as much time with them as possible cooking excellent meals, and camping trips years ago. Betty was passionate about animals, crafts, and having her spirits lifted by playing cards.Betty is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas LeRoy Mckenzie; daughters, Lena K. Leasure and husband Randall of Carpendale, Carol Ann McKenzie of Martinsburg, WV, Toni Marie Fabbri and husband Joe of LaVale; seven grandchildren, Betty Ann Webb, Scott Pratt, Chris Fabbri, Mandy Deter-Fabbri and husband Scott, Todd Leasure, Cassie Fabbri, and Crystal Menefee; nine great-grandchildren Alexis Jedlowski, Madison Pratt, Kolten Deter, Kayden Pressman, Bailee Pressman, Anthony Pratt, Karley Fabbri, Emily Huff, Gracelyn Helmstetter, Ryder Menefee.Friends and family will be received Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Cresaptown, on Friday December 9 at 12:30 p.m.Interment will follow at the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery, Rocky Gap.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com
