Cumberland, MD- "Katie" Betty K Murray, 64, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018, at home.Born July 7, 1954 outside of Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Albert J. Havenga and the late Jeanette (Slinkman) Havenga.Katie was the oldest of nine siblings. She graduated from Central University of Iowa with a bachelors in secondary education. In addition to their three children, she and Jack were foster parents to over 40 children. Katie was always a "flip flop" girl.Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Dr. Jack Murray, Jr.; three daughters, Anna Stewart, Jamie Bailey and husband Nick, and Cassie Murray; eight grandchildren, Megan, Anya, Alayzia, Hailey, Cole, Sebastian, Surae, and Blake; and her father, Albert J. Havenga.Visitation will be on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 1222 Vocke Road, LaVale.
