Betty Kelly, 94, of Cumberland, MD and formerly of central Florida died naturally with her family by her side on February 22, 2025 at the Kensington Assisted Living.

She was born June 21, 1930 in Cumberland to the late Paul and Eva (Hamilton) Reckley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Kelly; a son, John Bernard; a granddaughter, Cristy Whitacre Higgins; a sister, Eileen Delbrugge.

Betty worked as a caregiver for the elderly and raised her family. She was passionate about watching sunsets, and each one was like watching her first. Most of all she loved spending time with her many grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Robert T. Bernard and wife Noreen, Dan H. Bernard, Dennis E. Bernard and wife Barbara, Lori A. Bernard and husband Ron Hester; stepchildren, Bill Kelly and wife Rebecca, Serena Hernandez and husband Carlos, and Loretta Allese and husband Lenny; former daughter in law, Sherri Paskowski and husband Dave; daughter in law, Libbi Bernard; thirty four grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Bromfield; and very large extended family.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the care and friends she made at the Kensington Assisted Living in Cumberland, MD; also the care she received from UPMC Western Maryland – Hospice was exceptional.
