CUMBERLAND – Betty Lee Maguire, of Cumberland, passed away June 7, 2022, at UPMC Western Maryland. Born September 19, 1929, in Beryl, WV, she was one of six children of the late James H. Keller and Isabella (Metcalf) Keller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George C. Maguire, Jr.; daughter, Beth Santiago; grandson, Jerry Santiago; and great-grandson, Tyler Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Deema Mae Wilt; and brothers, James H. Keller, Jr. and Raymond L. Keller. Betty is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Wempe (Robert Wempe, Sr.) of Cumberland; a son, James Maguire (Marjorie) of Jacksonville, FL; her brother, Richard Keller (Doris Jean) of Keyser, WV; sister, Lois Ann Sanchez of Stafford, VA; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by grandsons, Robert L. Wempe, Jr. of St. Roberts, MO, and Shawn Maguire (Randi) of Harrington, ME; granddaughters, Lucyndia Spano (Mike) of Cumberland, Teresa Lee Trexler (Ryan) of Hampstead, MD, Lisa Wempe of Cumberland, Laura Wempe (significant other Jim Madorna) of Herdon, VA, Mary Ranker of Cumberland, and Sarah Wempe (significant other Jared Smith) of Frederick, MD; 15 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. Betty was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She loved celebrating Christmas and making candy. When the first signs of spring appeared, Betty would be working in her flower garden among her beautiful roses. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 300 E Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. Friends will be received at the church 30 minutes prior to Mass.
