Carol Lantz, 77, of Cumberland, Maryland, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 22nd, 2025, at UPMC Western Maryland, surrounded by the comfort of her loved ones.

Born June 13, 1948, in Maysville, WV, to the late Anna May (Vanmeter) and Ed Reed. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kim (Whitehair) Lantz.

Carol is survived by her devoted husband, Earl Lantz Sr. ("Peanut"); her son, Earl Lantz Jr.; her daughter, Lisa Lantz Green, and her husband, Gene. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia "Jean" Wolford, and her husband, Lawrence, along with their children, Mike and Laura Wolford; great-nephew, Landen Keech and great-nieces, Sierra and Peighton Wolford.

She leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Ivy Weir; Deven Lantz and his partner, Bethany; Matt Green and his wife, Shay; Kalyn Winter and her husband, Bradford; and Madison Lantz and her partner, Dalton. Carol also cherished her ten great-grandchildren and held a special place in her heart for many dear friends, including Mike and Karen Reuschel and Dyane Stafford.

To know her was to love her. She was the most selfless woman in the world—always putting others before herself and never asking for anything in return. For over 25 years, she proudly worked at the Holiday Inn, where she poured her heart into her job and made lasting friendships along the way. But her greatest joy was her family.

She shared a once-in-a-lifetime, fairytale kind of love with her beloved husband, Peanut. Together, they recently celebrated 60 beautiful years of marriage. Their love was the kind people dream about—endless, unwavering, and full of laughter.

She had a passion for all things Elvis Presley, and there wasn't a song of his she didn't know by heart. Her home was always full of music, warmth, and the smell of something delicious in the oven. She made the best home-cooked meals and loved baking with her grandchildren, filling their lives with sweet memories they'll cherish forever.

She found peace in the simple things—watching hummingbirds dance outside her sunroom, sharing stories around the table, and soaking up every precious moment with the people she loved. Her heart was pure, her laughter contagious, and her love unconditional. There was truly no one like her.

Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love and light will live on in all who were lucky enough to know her. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Nurse Kristen in the ICU, whose compassion, kindness, and care during Carol's final days brought immense comfort to both her and those who loved her most. She was truly an angel during a time we needed one the most.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks all donations go to the Daisy Foundation— which recognizes extraordinary nurses and helps support nursing education.
