Cumberland, MD – Carol Jean Lockard, 86, of Cumberland passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at UPMC-WMHS. Born July 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Robert C and Pearl E (Smith) Marker. She was also preceded in death by her son R. Bret Lockard, D.D.S. and two sisters Dorothy Screen and Rita Landis. Carol was a graduate of Ft. Hill High School class of '52, where she was a cheerleader for three years. She attended Western Maryland College and was a graduate of Strayer Business College with high distinction. She started her work experience as a Food Broker for F. Lee Fresh, then did clerical work for the attorneys Cobey, Carscadon & Gilcrest. She worked at Allegany Ballistics laboratory, then continued her career at R.C. Marker Company, her family's business, for thirty years. She also managed the Constitution Park Concession for thirty four years. She was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church serving on the Pastor-Parish and Worship Committees. Surviving is her beloved husband of 64 years, L.F. Chris Lockard, her daughter Christa Carol Peterson and husband John, Denver, CO. She was known as "Mimi" by her three adored grandchildren, Emily B. Peterson, Hannah C. Peterson Wright and husband Daniel, and Jake E. Peterson all of Denver. She is also survived by her brother Robert J. Marker and wife Barbara, Cumberland. A celebration of her life will occur at a later time.
