Obituary

FROSTBURG – Carol Ann (Schurg) Reavis, 76, of Frostburg, formerly of Columbia, SC, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born January 9, 1948, in Frostburg, she was a daughter of the late Carl F. and Shirley R. (Carter) Schurg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Reavis; and brothers, Harry, Dennis, and George Schurg.

Carol was a 1966 graduate of Beall High School. She went on to work for the South Carolina Military Department, South Carolina Emergency Management Division. Carol was awarded the meritorious service medal for her 29-year tenure. She kept active in the department even after her retirement in 2002.

Better known as "Martha Stewart" by her family, Carol loved to cook and decorate. She enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and to Disney World, having visited the latter at least five times. She could also be found reading or gardening in her spare time.

Carol loved her family; she taught all of her nieces and nephews to swim. She made it her main priority to make sure everyone around her was comfortable and having a good time.

Carol leaves behind her sister, Brenda J. Schurg, Cumberland; sister-in-law, Kim Schurg, Lexington, SC; nephews and nieces, Jeff Schurg, Mt. Savage, and Jeremy Munday (Jamie White), Frostburg, Nick Schurg, Carrie Schurg, Kelly Efland (Danny), Sarah McQueeney (Tommy), and Bralyn Schurg, all of North and South Carolina; great-nieces and nephews, Abby, Meredith, and Liam Munday, Frostburg, Willow Schurg, Mt. Savage, Keller Schurg, Bailey Lutz, Ella, Hadlee, and Audrey Efland.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Beth and all the staff of Egle Nursing and Rehab.

In accordance with her wishes, Carol's body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board.

Per her request, a wine and cheese party to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

Inurnment will be in Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC, also at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Vale Summit Methodist Church, c/o Jeremy Munday, 72 Victoria Lane, Frostburg, MD 21532.
