Obituary

Cumberland--- Carol J. Zembower passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland surrounded by her family at the age of 89. She has joined her family members that have gone before her and is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born April 28, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Flora M. (Hartley) Divelbiss. She was also preceded in death by her beloved fiancé, Marvin T. Duvall; her daughter, Vicki L. Kasecamp; brother, William H. Divelbiss; nephew, David W. Divelbiss; and son-in-law, R. James Swandol.

Her surviving loved ones are: two daughters, Cathi Loibel and husband, Joe, and Lori Morral and husband, Madison, and one son, Gary Zembower and wife, Cheryl. Grandchildren: Staci and Shane Collins, James and Kerri Swandol, Joshua and Holly Swandol, Albert and Megan Zembower, Gary Zembower Jr., Krista Kasecamp and Derek, Destiny Zembower and Ben, and Brittney and Randon Crabtree. Her great-grandchildren are: Kimberly Collins and Brady; Carson Collins; Landen, Kaelyn and Tenley Swandol and Cooper Riseborough; Lincoln, Presley and Penelope Swandol; Austin, Jarred, Brantley and Grayson Zembower; Ariah and Abigail Kasecamp; Aubria Spiker; and Paisley, Wyatt and Bryer Crabtree. Two great-great-grandchildren: Brantley and Clayton Clark. Also surviving are son-in-law, Jacob Kasecamp; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller; niece, Diane Morris and husband, Wayne and several great nieces and nephews.

Carol was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and Catherman's Business School and worked for Home Beneficial, People's, and Monumental Life Insurance Companies. She retired from Monumental as District Administrator in 1995. She was the last surviving Charter Member of Grace Memorial Community Church where, until recent years, she served in most positions and committees, especially as a soloist/choir member and was the church treasurer for twenty-one years. Carol loved her church and was always faithful to its constitution and doctrine.

She loved to read, work jigsaw puzzles, and attend Southern Gospel Concerts. She had a collection of cedar salt and pepper shakers, emerald green and cobalt blue glassware, bird figurines, anything Thomas Kincaid, and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles Baseball Team.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Sunday, July 30, 2023, from 2pm to 5pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, July 31, at 11am by Rev. Mickey Stephens, pastor of Grace Memorial Community Church. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery, Uhl Highway, Cumberland, MD. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
