Obituary

Carola Allen Twigg, 97, of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025. She was born on November 27, 1927, in Cumberland, MD, to Claris and Mabel Allen.

Carola graduated from Allegany High School and attended Butler University. On December 5, 1947, she married James Paul Twigg in Westminster, MD. The couple lived in Towson, MD, for 30 years, where they raised their daughter, Victoria. After retiring, Carola and Jim relocated to Cambridge on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Following Jim's passing, Carola moved to Nashville, TN, to be closer to her daughter and family.

Carola was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Twigg; her parents, Claris and Mabel Allen; her sister, Frances (Bruce) Armstrong; her brother, Claris Murray (Polly) Allen; sister-in-law Dorothy (Ray) Dorn-Surf; and brother-in-law David Twigg.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and James Ramsey; her grandchildren, Megan (Grant) Reynolds and Kristen (Nathan) Hefner; and her great-grandchildren, Tesia Reynolds, Lillian Hefner, and Rebecca Hefner. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Twigg; nieces Suzanne (Tony) Lagratta and Marian (David) Cundiff; nephews Michael (Courtney) Twigg, Sean (Shannon) Twigg, Bruce Armstrong, and Randy Armstrong; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Carola had a deep passion for her family, friends, faith, animals, and country. She cherished her membership in churches throughout her life, including Emmanuel Parish of the Episcopal Church (Cumberland, MD), Trinity Episcopal Church (Towson, MD), Christ Episcopal Church (Cambridge, MD), St. George's Episcopal Church (Nashville, TN), and Brentwood Baptist (Brentwood, TN).

In Nashville, she enjoyed her involvement with Bible Study Fellowship, the Nashville Republican Women's Club, and her many friends, especially "The Adorables." She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cat, Holly.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at the Rivers at Maryland Farms (formerly Brighton Gardens), especially those in the Memory Care Neighborhood who cared for Carola so well.
