Catherine Elaine Perrin, 93, of Cumberland, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Born in Altoona, PA, on December 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Marie (Roney) and John Hollern. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis E. Perrin; daughter, Linda Marie Perrin Taylor; sisters, Elizabeth Ann Hollern, Jean Coleman and husband Hugh, Esther Tabone and husband Steve, Mary Lou Mitter and husband Robert, and Bernice Atkinson and husband Eddie; brothers, Jack Hollern and wife Carol and Leo Hollern and wife Pat.
Elaine was a graduate of Beall High School, class of 1949. Following graduation, she was employed by the C&P Telephone Company. Elaine married Denny in 1954 when she moved to Cumberland. She later obtained her real estate license and worked with her husband in the real estate and insurance company, Perrin and Perrin.
Elaine was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, SS. Peter and Paul Shrine. At the church, she was a volunteer in the parish gift shop and St. Anthony's Place. Elaine was a member of a local bridge club, and she enjoyed planning activities for her family.
Elaine is survived by her sons, Scott F. Perrin and wife Suzanne, and James D. "Jimmy" Perrin; son-in-law, Dane E. Taylor; grandchildren, Mallory A. Solner and husband Michael, Colin A. Taylor and wife Sara Burnett, Devin P. Taylor and wife Dr. Jessica Taylor, Savannah C. Perrin, Saige E. Perrin, and Alex D. Perrin; great-grandchildren, Olivia J. Solner, William E. Solner, Maia E. Taylor, Aidan M. Taylor, Liam P. Taylor, and Gemma Marie Taylor; sister; Judy Poland and husband Dr. James Poland; brother, Paul Hollern. Elaine is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks is offered to the caregivers who provided wonderful care to Elaine: Angela Bartlett, Julie Mills, Sue Nutter, Tracie Day, Jennifer Houck and Tiffany Wallace.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Shrine on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
Interment in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Parish, 300 E. Oldtown Rd, Ste. 2, Cumberland, MD 21502.
