Charles T. Snow, age 94, formerly of Walkersville, MD passed away peacefully with family by his side at Citizens Care and Rehab Center in Frederick.
Born March 24, 1931 in Mt. Airy, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph I. and Sybil Jackson Snow.
Mr. Snow grew up in LaVale, MD and was a 1950 graduate of Allegheny High School. He was one of the main principals in starting the LaVale Rescue Squad which has been in operation for over 55 years. In 1956 he joined the Maryland State Police, where in addition to road patrol, he spent eight years with the helicopter division as a medic. He was one of the first groups of troopers to fly in the newly formed State Police Aviation Unit in the early 70's. He retired from the B Barrack in Frederick as a sergeant after 25 years. After retirement he owned and operated Evergreen/Grape Creek Nursery in Walkersville for 6 years and later worked as a security officer at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. He was a member of Glade United Church of Christ, Walkersville and a life member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 282 in Woodsboro where he had many friends.
He is survived by daughter Toni L. Snow and partner Steve Tubbs of Cambridge, MA, sons Charles Steven Snow and partner Nancy Birch of Ft. Myers, FL, John Scott Snow and wife Susie of Ringgold, MD, step grandson John May and brother-in-law Charles "Skip" Hatfield.
He was predeceased by his wife Sandra Snow, as well as one brother, and four sisters. He was the last of his remaining siblings.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, January 16 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with a Sons of the American Legion memorial service at 7 PM, and again on Saturday, January 17th from 1PM until time of service 2 PM at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown.
Interment will follow in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
