Obituary

Constance Angela (McDonald) Powers, 74, of Ridgeley, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on October 1, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Cumberland, MD, on January 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Milton H. and F. Irene (Bridges) McDonald. Connie graduated from Flintstone High School.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, William B. Powers and Edward R. Dickel, as well as her brothers M. Allen McDonald and Scott M. McDonald, her sister Tina M. (McDonald) Strait, and an infant sister. Connie also lost several in-laws: Sandy McDonald, Michael Wade, Ronald Shipley, Randy Pyles, and Dawn McDonald.

Connie is survived by her daughter, Michelle I. (Powers) Wilhelm (Chris Richmond). She took great joy in her grandsons: Connor W. Poole (Mindy), Colton M. Wilhelm, Chase P. Wilhelm, Cayden A. Wilhelm, Carson S. Wilhelm, and bonus grandson Devin Lee and his wife Makayla. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Hayden R. Poole, Michael and Myles Plum, Jaxon and Jayce Lee, as well as her beloved fur baby, Rebel.

She leaves behind five sisters and a brother: Sheila M. Wade, Patricia I. Folk (James), Sylvia A. Shipley, Pamela R. Pyles, Rick P. McDonald (Roxane), and Leslie M. Reed (Billy Jay). Connie will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews: Beth McDonald, Kimberly Louk, Ira Shipley, Bruce Shipley, Lee Shipley, Doug Shipley, Staci Love, Steven Long, Michael McDonald, Shane McDonald, Amanda Gallo (Henry) and Justin Reed, along with great-nieces and nephews including Cody Vargo, Christopher McDonald, Madison Louk, Abigail Louk, Skylee Shipley, Blake Shipley, Brian Shipley, Page Shipley, Scott Long, Logan Long, Ty Love, Brock Love, Kaylin Love, Dakota McDonald, Levi McDonald, John Jarrett, and Emmellia Reed, as well as many friends and relatives.

Connie began her career shortly after high school at Montgomery Ward in Cumberland, later working for Aetna Finance, Baer Foods, Sysco Foods, and ultimately retiring as the Manager/CEO of HealthCare 1st Federal Credit Union. Known for her willingness to help others, she formed a close friendship with Jeremy McKinnen.

A devoted member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ridgeley, WV, Connie will be remembered fondly by her community.

Visitation will be held Monday, October 7th at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a Catholic service led by Father Daniel Price at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Our Lady Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 2174 Beans Cove Road, Clearville, PA. Pallbearers will include Connor Poole, Colton Wilhelm, Chase Wilhelm, Cayden Wilhelm, Carson Wilhelm, and Devin Lee.

A reception will be held in Seven Dolors Hall following the service.
