Obituary

David Richard McMillan, Jr., 69, of Oldtown, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, with his family and close friends by his side.

Rick was born on January 4, 1955, to parents David and Theresa McMillan, whom have both preceded him to the gates of heaven.

He was a 1973 graduate of Oldtown High School. After graduation, Rick went on to become a journeyman wireman in the IBEW Local 307. He was a lifelong member, serving over 50 years. He was known as "Ruggy Jr" to his fellow brothers.

Rick leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Kathy; his children, Keith Arnold and wife Jennifer, Sherry Squires and husband Doug, Christina Crites and special friend Drew, David McMillan III and wife Megan, Charles McMillan and wife Patty. He also leaves behind several grandchildren; David, Saprina, Shawn, Courtney, Heather, Sarah, Garret, Elizabeth, Veronica, Kirk, Nathan, David (2), Chloe, Luke, CJ, Geneva, and Thaddeus; great-grandchildren, Lacey, Eddie, Dalton, Alex and soon to arrive Sophia. Rick also leaves behind many cousins and his aunts and uncles.

He had many friends, many of which have stood beside him since grade school. Rick's friends were very important to him, and he considered them additions to his blood-family. He also had many "bonus" children and grandchildren gifted to him by his own; he accepted them all.

Rick was a man who was dedicated to all his family and his friends. He loved life and did his best to take advantage of all the moments. He loved being outside and when able, he was often found in the garden or flower beds, or at the canal with a fishing rod. When he was inside, he loved his trains and loved running them around the tracks for anyone who wanted to watch. He enjoyed spending time with others, but was also a very independent man. He was a man of many talents and always ready to try new things. He will be forever missed by many.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m.

In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated after the service.
