HYNDMAN, PA – Debra Elaine (George) Poland, of Hyndman, PA, slipped from this world to be with her savior, Jesus, on Sunday, January 1, 2023.

She was born March 14, 1953, in Cumberland, MD, to the late Alfred L. "Bill" George, Jr. and Evelyn V. (Foreman) George. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Bud and Dorothy George, and David and Ethel Foreman; special niece, Michelle Dehaven Crippen.

She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1971 and attended Allegany Community College in 1989 for phlebotomy. She was a homemaker while her children were little, then she worked at Schwabs, Sheetz, Baker's Gas and Convenience Store, then became an in-home caregiver for many families with elderly loved ones.

She loved to craft, needlepoint, count cross stitch, and crochet. She enjoyed working puzzles, collecting antique dishes, and most of all, talking on the telephone.

She was a devoted mother, sister, wife, and Christian. She lived her life for others. She gave love and kindness to all. Her greatest love was her family, and she loved with all her heart.

Debra is survived by two children, Jennifer Riley and husband Dale Riley II, Christopher Poland and wife Carla, Bedford; grandchildren, Phoebe and Jay Riley, and Mia Poland; sisters, Sharon Wigfield and husband George, Centerville, MD, and Jeanne Platt, Cumberland; and nephew, Rich Platt and wife Melissa.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 4 to 7pm.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2pm with Pastor Ed Clemons, Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
