Denny E. Hockman, 91, of Cumberland, MD went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family at home on April 29, 2025.

Born April 10, 1934 in Slanesville, WV he was the son of the late Paul and Elda Hockman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, Harold, Lloyd, Paul Jr., and Maxine.

Denny graduated from Fort Hill High School with the class of 1953, and remained a lifelong Sentinel fan. He joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War while stationed in Italy. Followed by careers at the Celanese, and then PPG from which he retired.

He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and his greatest joy was the Word of God, he was able to serve as a Deacon, and taught Sunday school and Bible study. Also he enjoyed playing and following golf.

Surviving is his high school sweetheart and wife of 71 years, JoAnn Hockman; three children, Denise Jolley and husband Jim, Karen Keidel and husband George, and Denny Hockman Jr. and wife Barb; grandchildren, Jim Jolley Jr. (Amanda), Chris Jolley (Erica), Jennifer Keidel, George Keidel IV (Beth), Denny Hockman III (Tasha), Derek Hockman (Kenna), Dallas Hockman (Amber); great-grandchildren, Bella, Gabby, Kiefer, Brooks, Bennett, Eva, Noah, Evan, Harper, Jax, Maddie, Marci, and Theo; and his extended family.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.

On Friday, May 2nd at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 930 Frederick St, Cumberland visitation will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Hattenfield officiating.

Burial will be private and at a later date in Hillcrest Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Cornerstone Baptist Church.
