Dolores Frances (Thomas) Ortiz, of Cumberland, with courage and faith, went home to God on May 27, 2022. Born July 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Thomas. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Joseph Ortiz and is survived by her son David and wife, Rebecca Ortiz; daughter Kathy and husband, Damon Hostetter; son, Patrick Ortiz. Dolores is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Michael Ortiz; Alexandra Lane Hostetter and husband, George Hatcher; Rebecca Jane Ortiz Flanakin and husband, Sawyer Flanakin; Nathaniel Storm Hostetter; James Thomas Ortiz; and grand-granddaughter, Olive Hatcher. Dolores graduated from Johnstown High School and received her Associate of Arts degree from Alleghany Community College. She worked for many years at the Thomas Finan Center where she served as a Patient's Rights Advocate until her retirement. Dolores was a life -long member of Our Lady of the Mountains parish, volunteered at numerous parish events, and was awarded Woman of The Year in 2016 for her dedication. She devoted many hours to help raise money for the Cumberland Salvation Army. She was also a member of the Democratic Women's Club. She will be remembered for her love of music and dance and her wonderful sense of humor. Family and friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 300 E Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 1 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
