Short Gap, WV- Donald Raymond Grabenstein, 74, of Short Gap passed away on Friday, November 27, UPMC-WMHS. Born November 22, 1946 he was the son of the late Arintha Zais Grabenstein Bowman and Raymond Grabenstein. He was also preceded in death by his step father Robert Bowman and two sisters Mary Nixon and Linda Robertson. Donald was a graduated of Oldtown High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the Navy. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Mountains, St. Mary's Church. He retired from ATK. He was an avid fisherman. He loved fishing, he lived to fish. He loved Country Western Music. He loved Family gatherings, and especially adored his grandson, Matt who was his world for twenty years. Then he was blessed with two more grandchildren. Surviving is his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Grabenstein; two sons Ron and Eric Grabenstein; four grandchildren Matt (fiancé Courtney), Kierstyn, Kaelyn and Jaxon. There will be a private graveside service Wednesday, December 2 at 2:00pm at St. Mary's Cemetery. Proper use of face masks and social distancing are required. In honor of Donald's memory, donations can be made to the Huntington Disease Foundation.
