Doris Louise (Winfield) Hansrote, 95, of Enola, PA, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Church of God Retirement Living Community in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Born May 23, 1929, in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Carl A. and Mamie A. (Shinholtz) Winfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Cornelius Hansrote, sister-in-law, Louella Hansrote and brother, Walter Winfield.
Doris was a 1948 graduate of Allegany High School. She worked at the Cumberland Times-News after graduation from high school; as a car hop at Gay Point Restaurant in LaVale, Maryland, and helped her father in the family business, Speelman's Ice Cream Company.
Roy and Doris married in 1950 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cumberland. They built their first home there in 1955. They moved to Enola, Pennsylvania, and built a home in 1994 to be closer to their children.
Doris enjoyed spending time with her family. As her children were growing up, she was very involved with their school activities and always volunteering for something or helping anyone in need.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Carla L. Foard and husband John, North Port, FL; Carol L. Ramsey, Harrisburg, PA; and one son; Craig L. Hansrote and wife Cindy, Duncannon, PA; three grandchildren, Justin Ramsey and wife Gillian, Mechanicsburg, PA; Andrew Hansrote and wife Katie, Marysville, PA; and Rachel Becker and husband Brennan. Titusville, PA; six great-children, Katie, Ethan, Leona, Lily, Drew, Emerson and one step-great- grandchild, Daphne; a brother, Carl Winfield and his wife, Barbara, Mechanicsburg, PA.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held at this time.
Inurnment will be in Maryland State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap, with her husband.
