Dorothy Ellen
Brown
Jan 1, 1948 — Jul 14, 2026
Dorothy Ellen Brown, 78, of Cumberland, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2026 at UPMC Western Maryland.
She was born in Cumberland on January 1, 1948 to the late Willis E. and Willa S. (Aldridge) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carole A. Uhl.
Dorothy graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1966, and later continued her education in business school. She immediately began a 44 year long career at Kelco FCU where she began as a teller and retired as a senior loan officer. Clients and coworkers will remember her beautiful laugh, sense of humor, and warm personality.
Travel was a big part of her life; she traveled with her girlfriends to many places including most of Europe and Hawaii. She would always make time for a trip to her favorite Myrtle Beach, SC. However she most cherished her time spent with her family, and always went along with them wherever they would be going; unless MacGyver was on tv.
Surviving her is her brother, Thomas E. Brown Sr.; nieces and nephews, Brian Hinkle (Jackie) of Arizona, Pamela Ward (Don), Christy Bean (William), Thomas E. Brown II and his daughter and Dorothy's caregiver, Tessa Brown; nineteen great-nieces and nephews; nine great-great-nieces and nephews; and her large extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 19th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 4:00pm with Pastor Joe Alkire officiating.
Interment will be private on a later date at Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the care she received from UPMC Western Maryland ICU, Cumberland Healthcare Center, and WVU Wound Clinic at Potomac Valley Hospital.
