Dorothy M. Miller, 95, passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2023 at her home.
She was born on Easter morning, April 8, 1928, in Washington DC. The daughter
of Charles A. Thomas and Ethel V. (Padgett) Thomas, parents now deceased.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond W. Miller,
USN Retired; grandsons John Miller, Wyatt Miller; daughter-in-law Karen Miller;
and her maternal grandparents, Rose and Ulysses Padgett.
Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Central High School in Washington DC. She
served a four-year internship as a dental technician, and went on to be employed
by Johnson and Blancke, a dental lab in Washington DC.
Virginia Beach, VA was home for 33 years, along with her husband, while he was
on active duty and after he retired. She attended Old Donation Episcopal Church
while living there, and also worked as a Medical Assistant until retiring in 1984.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Thomas Miller and Michael Miller and wife Carla;
five grandchildren, Kory, Lucas (Kristin), Tony (Linda), Rachel (Jeff), and Craig
(Laura); and nine great-grandchildren, Ruggero, Otello, Luka, Ari, Haylee, Ella,
Charlotte, Colton, and Harper. She dearly loved her family and lifetime friends.
Mom was a loving, caring, and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and aunt. She loved to laugh and enjoyed fun family times at
the lake. Mom was always there when she was needed. We were truly blessed
and fortunate to have her in our lives. We have many fond memories of the times
we shared with her throughout our lives. She will always have a special place
within our hearts. She will be greatly missed, always loved, and remembered, by
all of the family and her lifelong friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 21st at 10:00 a.m. at
Arlington National Cemetery, followed by interment with her beloved husband.
