Earl Melvin Diehl, 86, passed away on May 19, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 16, 1940 to the late Edna Louise (Geller) and Merle Frederick Diehl. In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Diehl and Harve Diehl; and his son-in-law, Gary Mowery.

Earl was a 1957 graduate of Bedford High School. He worked as a delivery driver for Potomac Farms Dairy until his retirement. In his younger years, Earl enjoyed gardening and hunting; as he enjoyed spending time outdoors. Earl attended Oldtown Community Christian Church and was a member of the former Oldtown Lions Club. Above all else, Earl loved spending time with his family. Earl and Freda would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 4th.

Earl is survived by his loving wife, Freda Ann (Robinson) Diehl; daughters, Sherry Mowery and Carol Diehl; granddaughter, Jessica Baer and her husband Curtis; grandson, Steven Mowery; and great-grandson, Michael Baer; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday May 23, from 10:00 am unitl 12:00 pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm with Pastor Charles Riggleman officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in Oldtown Cemetery.
