Earnest "Ernie" Franklin Santmyire, 87, passed away on April 6, 2025, at his home.

Born April 8, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Sarah (Washabaugh) Santmyire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Abigail Santmyire.

Ernie was a 1956 graduate of Ridgeley High School. He was an Air Force Veteran. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and retired from the Maryland State Highway Administration. He was a husband, dad and grandfather. He was a deacon at St. Marks Community Church. He was a Union Officer at AFSCME. He was also owner and operator of Spirit 101 radio station. He enjoyed all aspects of life.

Surviving is his wife, Charlotte (Shaffer); sons, Earnest "Tyke" Franklin Santmyire II (Stacey), and Sean Eric Santmyire (Christina Dawn); nine grandchildren; one brother, Crable Santmyire and several extended family members.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 9 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland.

A funeral service will be the following day, Thursday, April 10, at 11:00am with Pastor Chris Talton officiating.

Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
