Ellicott City—Eleanor Elizabeth Bean, 91, of Ellicott City, MD, formerly of Cumberland, passed away at the Howard County General Hospital. Born in Cumberland, MD, August 31, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Carl Frederick and Eleanor (Gerdeman) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis L. Bean; sister, Dorothy Smith; brother, Richard Smith. Eleanor was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, class of 1946, and Catherman's Business School. Eleanor was employed at Blake Electric Company. She married in 1950 and became a fulltime wife and mother. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City, and she enjoyed gardening and playing bridge. She is survived by her children, Richard Bean, Robert Bean and wife, Sherry, and Debra Hart and husband, Alex; grandchildren, Matthew Bean and wife, Emily, and Diana Hart; sister, Nancy Rinehart. Friends will be received at the Shrine of Saints Peter and Paul on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from noon to 1 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
