She was born on November 5, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Major Ralph Herbert Taylor and Francis Ann (Hunter) Taylor of Cumberland, MD.

She graduated from Allegany High School in 1965 and went on to study at Frostburg State College (now Frostburg State University) receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. At Frostburg State, she was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta.

In 2000, Eleanor received "Teacher of the Year" for her work in getting the West Side Elementary School playground built. She devoted her life to helping children as a teacher.

When she was not teaching, she participated in multiple community organizations. She was a member of Junior Women's Civic Club, Quilt Club, Altar Ward at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, and Summer Lunch Boxes. Eleanor grew up attending St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cumberland and later attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Cumberland.

Eleanor was a teacher, gardener, painter, quilter and traveled the world with Dick. She loved the serenity of her garden. She loved spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Justin Paulman, his wife, Robin, only grandchild, Aidan Paulman; sister, Jean (Taylor) Piersma and husband, Brad; and nieces, Stephanie and Carolyn.
