Woodbridge, VA – Eric William Miller, 47, of Woodbridge, formerly of LaVale, MD, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at Sentara Hospital, Woodbridge.

Born July 26, 1976, in Cumberland, he was the son of Paul W. "Bill" and Mary Beth Miller. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul E. and Rena Miller and Robert Brooke and Almeda C. Knieriem.

Eric was a 1994 graduate of Allegany High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. He was stationed in Iwakuni, Japan and had the opportunity to ring the peace bell with a Japanese family on the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima.

He was employed as a project manager for Dell-Emc2. He was an avid runner, having participated in the Marine Corps marathon. He was an active member of the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club and enjoyed hiking.

He is survived by his parents; his wife, Cheryl (Goodwin) Miller; parents-in-law, Luann and Ralph Richner of Pocatello, ID; a son, Casey Miller; and stepdaughters, Ashley and Amanda Stathas, Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his brother, Adam M. Miller and wife, Melania; niece, Myia Miller, all of LaVale, MD; and his two fur babies, Hans and Merlin.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, MD.

A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Leydig officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 13 Veterans Honor Guard.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff of the ICU at Sentara Hospital for their kindness during Eric's time there.
