Obituary

CUMBERLAND – G. David Nyberg, 77, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, October 11, 2021. Born February 1, 1944, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Oscar L. and Iris (Horstman) Nyberg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Strack and Ellen Nyberg; and nephew, Liam Baker. Dave was a graduate of Baltimore City College and the University of Baltimore. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for 35 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Parish, Trout Unlimited, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and was one of the original organizers of the Rocky Gap Triathlon event. Dave always said "sure" to traveling, especially if it involved fishing. He traveled many states and countries. He enjoyed them all, but the Eastern Shore of Maryland was his favorite. He was an avid fly fisherman and Fly-Tier, and an outdoorsman who enjoyed his walks and nature. Dave was a kind and loving husband and father. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Patricia Coogan Nyberg; children, Shannon Robbins and husband, Brent, Christopher David Nyberg and wife, Mary, and Kirsten Stefan and husband, Scott. He was a proud G. Daddy to his grandchildren, Claire and Mary Iris Robbins, Reagan and Lauren Nyberg, and Lucas and Alex Stefan. He is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Diane Baker and husband, William; nieces, Mary, Kelsea, and Erin Baker, and Karen Nicholson; and many good friends. It was Dave's request to be cremated without visitation. A family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date on Maryland's Eastern Shore. A special thank you for all the kindness that many people showed us the last few months, especially at UPMC Western Maryland and Devlin Manor. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Avenue, Annapolis, MD 21403 or at www.cbf.org/memorial. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
