Cumberland – Gary Michael Porter, 74, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at Sterling Care Frostburg Village.

Born January 27, 1949, in Oldtown, he was the son of the late Elroy and Josephine (Wolfe) Porter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sondra (Sonie) Porter; brother, Raymond Porter; sisters, JoAnn Ganoe and Patricia Austin.

Gary retired from Lowe's where he worked as a supervisor. He enjoyed fishing and going to bingo. He served in the Navy and was a loving husband, father and grandfather who would give you the shirt of his back. Gary will be sadly missed, but is reunited with Sonie – just as he wanted.

Gary is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Porter) Getz and husband, Andy, Cassandra and Jessica Porter; ten grandchildren, Zaccheus Jessie, Jamal Green, Killian and Keegan Porter, Skylar Twigg, Darius and Jalynn Jackson, Kaydence and Briden Frame, Kyrie Porter; sister, Dona Blank; brother, Cecil Porter.

Visitation will be Monday, August 21, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland. A funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Seth Wharton officiating.

Interment will be in MD State Veteran's Cemetery, Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
