George A. Corwell Sr., 90, of Wiley Ford, WV, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born at home in West Virginia, on December 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Paul and Susan (Ross) Corwell. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years Dorothy Corwell; and his brothers, Ed Corwell and Don Corwell.

George served his country in the U.S. Army and went on to work at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory for 33 years. He loved spending time outdoors, especially gardening, hunting, and fishing.

George is survived by his three children, George "Pete" Corwell, Jr., and wife Faith, Russell Corwell and wife Barbie, and Margie Schultz and husband Chris; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sisters Margie Hamilton and JoAnn Tipton; and his pride and joy, Coal, the dog.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Wednesday, November 27th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ann Merkel officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD with his wife.
