RAWLINGS George Henry Guthrie Sr., 74, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016,at his home in Rawlings, MD. Born July 14, 1942 in Allegany County, MD he was the son of the late Donald Raymond and Etta Hazel (Flanagan) Guthrie. He was also preceded in death by his sister Rosalie Jane Tevalt.George was a 1960 graduate of Allegany High School, served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock, and retired from the Laborer's Local 616. He was a member of the Keyser VFW Post #3518.He is survived of by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine Mildred Llewellyn Guthrie; two daughters Vicki Lynn Wharton and husband David Perry, and Dawn Etta Groves; one son, George Henry Guthrie Jr and fianc Carrie Powell; ten grandchildren, Justin David Guthrie, Brooke Ashley Guthrie, Lexi Nicole Guthrie, Hannah Elizabeth Lowery, Sarah Nicole Lowery, Jessica Brooke Wharton, Jade Lynae Wharton, Holly Nicole Wageley, Adam David Wharton, Troy Daniel Baker; eight great-grandchildren Aiden David Guthrie, Paisley Rose Guthrie, Charles Robert Spiker, Ella Grace Aronhalt, Mason David Swanger, MaKenna Jane Wageley, Brennan Allen Wharton, Gracelynn Ann Wharton; and three nephews Frederick Roy Lee, Donald Ray Lee, his wife Alesia, and Dennis Rex Lee, all of Rawlings and many great nieces and nephens.Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. is assisting the family and services will be private at Rocky Gap Vetrans Cemetary.Those wishing to honor George's memory can do so by making contributions to the Rawlings Volunteer Fire Department, 18900 Volunteer Dr SW, Rawlings, MD 21557.
