KEYSER, WV – George Robert "Bob" Rice, Sr., 85, of Keyser, WV, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born March 25, 1938, in Cumberland, he was a son of the late William and Gladys (Myers) Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Bob attended Fort Hill High School. He went on to become an iron worker and a member of the Local 568. Bob served his country in the United States Army the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Short Gap Lions Club and of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in Short Gap.

In his younger days, Bob enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, as well as traveling, with his family. He also loved to stay busy by tending to his son's FFA cattle.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 60 years, Loretta (Flanagan) Rice; daughter, Becky Rice (Dale Bloss); son, George "Bobby" Rice, Jr. (Gale); grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Rice; siblings, Jesse Rice (Pat), Ronnie Rice, and Sue Nelson; several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 12-2pm. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm with Pastor David Sutton officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
