Obituary

George "Rick" Richard Stimmel II, 57, of Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at his home.

Born September 23, 1968, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of Beverly Ann (Bryan) Stimmel and the late George W. Stimmel. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George R. and June Stimmel; maternal grandparents, Olive and Robert Bryan; aunts, Darla Stimmel, Carla Malloy, Carol Cooper and husband Harvey "Buddy", and Marlene Santos and husband Dave; and uncles, Jerome Bryan, and Robert "Bobby" Bryan and wife Elizabeth "Betty".

Rick's most recent employment was as a component inspector through Northrup Grumman. He earned his associate's degree from Allegany College of Maryland after graduating from Fort Hill High School in 1986. He wore several hats over the years including master mechanic and machinist.

Rick had a great love for model trains and all things Harley Davidson. He enjoyed collecting and refurbishing different trains, antiques, cars, and bikes. He most enjoyed riding with his friends. He was a member of the Cresaptown Eagles and the Haystack Sportsmen's Club.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his sister, Stacey Devine; his brother, Robert Stimmel and spouse Christopher Schisler; his nieces and nephews, Michael Devine, Jr., Lucas Devine, Delaney Devine, Shaun Seddon, and Abigail Devine; great-nephew, Finn W. Devine-Mense; uncle, Larry Malloy; and aunt, Elizabeth "Betty" (Murray) Bryan. He is also survived by his ex-wife of 15 years, Alice Seidler; Alice's children, Victoria Stendeback and daughter Naomi, Hanna Stendeback and partner Matt Price and daughter Amelia, and Samuel "Hunter" Stendeback and wife Jessica McCarty Stendeback.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Vince Cooper officiating.

Inurnment will be in Davis Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org/) or Cresaptown Eagles Aerie #2883, 14700 McMullen Hwy, Cresaptown, MD 21502, in honor of Rick.
