CUMBERLAND-Gloria J. Clark, 92, of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2016 at home, surrounded by the love and prayers of family, friends, and her dear neighbor, Mary.Born on May 2, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Ciro and Judith (Marciello) Giordano. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Francis Clark in 1993; her brother, Nicholas; her sister, Mary; and her grandson, Benjamin.Gloria was a graduate of Girls High School in the south end of Boston. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains, Saint Ambrose Catholic Church. Gloria served on parish council at her church, which was a very important part of her life. She received the Archdiocesan Medal of Honor for her years of work and devotion to St. Ambrose. She loved spending time with her "luncheon ladies," who were her very special friends. Gloria also loved history and politics. Above all, her life was her family, her home, and her church.Surviving are her daughter, Judith Whitesell of Mt. Holly Springs, Pa; her sister, Raffaela Ciampa of Boston, Mass; and two grandchildren, Noel Whitesell and Karrie Hemperly, and husband Jason.As per Gloria's request, she will be cremated.A Memorial Mass will be conducted at Our Lady of the Mountains, St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Saturday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m.Arrangements are entrusted to the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Western Maryland Health System Hospice Services, 1050 Industrial Blvd., Suite 19, Cumberland, MD 21502, or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Mountains, 300 E Oldtown Rd., Ste. 2, Cumberland, MD 21502.Condolences for the family may be left at www.ScarpelliFH.com.
